What did people do before tv & intenet?

Do you guys ever wonder what life was like before tv and internet. What did they do to entertain themselves?

Well...not that I am that old, but I remember when I was young there was hardly any programming for me, and as an only child I had no siblings to play with. I would spend hours in my room playing...reading...and hours outside playing...reading...

I limit my kids to 1 hour of tv a day. They each get to pick one half hour show. Exceptions are movies and shows they watch with us, like Amazing Race or Survivor. Otherwise, we spend our weekends outdoors (weather permitting,) or going places. During the week, it's homework, play, tv, shower, bed. Not much time for anything else. We go to sporting events (local kids or even high school) parks, hiking, museums, that kindof thing. Nothing that costs a lot. And we have out boat for the summers. I think before tv & internet, they did the same sort of thing.
