Life on Mars
Life on Mars comes back tomorrow! I love this show, and I think it is so interesting. I know it wasn't ABC's idea, they bought the rights from BBC, but they have done a really good job with it. If you haven't watched it, you should really give it a try. It totally sucked me in from the first episode!
It's all about Sam Tyler, a detective in NYC who is hit by a car. He wakes up and he is still a detective at the same precinct, but it's 1973. He has to deal with the culture shock of doing detective work without modern technology, without the current code of ethics, and he's constantly trying to figure why he's there and how he can get back to 2008.
I'm so excited to have it back!

I'm not sure if you can still see tham on abc.com or not, but they used to be available there. It's an awesome show. I saved all of them on my DVR and I'm rewatching them today!

Re: Life on Mars
The guy on the ledge, who invested all of his money in portable phones cracked me up.
This was the first time I had watched this show, do they do something like that every week?
I was cracking up at the guys that were saying "Who wants to carry around a phone?"

Re: Life on Mars
Was that at the beginning? I didn't see that part. We had a severe weather update that interrupted the beginning of the episode. They do often have Sam mention something from present-day and show how no one else knows what he's talking about. One of the earlier episodes had someone that they questioned that Annie thought might be gay, and Sam commented that women had such great gay-dar. Annie cracked up, and asked him if he thought of that! It's usually just little things like that.
However, as much as I am happy to have my favorite show back, I was a little disappointed. First, I think that ABC itself must be obsessed with the Russian mob! Second, the earlier episodes showed Sam wanting to go back home, and struggling with a flirtation/attraction with Annie but holding back because he was really in love with Mya (in 2008). To me, it seemed completely out of character for Sam to be so suddenly attracted to someone and treat sleeping with her so casually. I understand showing him accepting 1973 as home and present and moving on with his life, but to have him change so suddenly made me wonder if Guza was consulting with the writers of this show!

Re: Life on Mars
What were those little things he kept seeing? One looked like a little teeny tiny helicopter, it flew out of the bullet hole in the bodt & the other thing came out of one of the russian guys eye. They freaked me out.

Re: Life on Mars
Remember when the Russian guy was telling Sam about the robots that he made to go inside someone's body to determine whether they had a soul? It was supposed to be something like that. It's really weird, yes, but it's all part of Sam trying to discover why he's in 1973, and how to go back to now. He has seen something similar to those a couple times, gotten phone calls where he could hear his mother talking to his body in the hospital, seen Mya and his mother standing over him in the hospital on tv (set as a soap opera with Jeanne Cooper as mom!), and several little glimpses of his real life.
All the previous episodes are available right now on ABC.com if you want to catch up. They are definitely worth it, especially the first episode. I won't tell you why, but something in the first few minutes of 1973 gave me chills.

Re: Life on Mars
I can't wait for this to come on tomorrow night! The last episode before the midseason hiatus was a cliffhanger, and I think that tomorrow's episode was supposed to follow it. I'm not sure why they didn't show it last week, unless they wanted a standalone episode to keep new viewers watching.

Re: Life on Mars
I started watching it, the fist one I saw was the one with the helicopter things coming out of the guys dead body.
I really like this show, gonna try and watch the other eppies. This month has been nuts for me.
I wonder how many others like him there are.

The show is really good. I love shows that make you think. I wasn't as impressed with this week's episode as the others, but it was still good.

Re: Life on Mars
Unfortunately, TIIC at ABC have cancelled my favorite primetime show. The only silver lining to this is that they have given the writers enough time to tie up loose ends and give our story an ending, but IMO it's way too soon. This show is intelligent, witty, interesting, and highly entertaining. Oh, well. I guess it's not just Guza/Frons that hate me. Must be an ABC conspiracy. Back to the same old boring crap.

Re: Life on Mars
I can't belive Sam didn't want to talk to his younger self.
And WTF, the cops got shot and it doesn't look good
The young cop is so cute, not in a I want to fuck him way.

Re: Life on Mars
I really enjoyed this week's episode. I'm glad that Ray and Chris are okay, but I really don't understand what happened with the FBI agent. Why doesn't Sam remember going to kill the guy that shot Ray and Chris? Why wasn't Windy home when they came to question her? Sure, he could have read Sam's file to know about him being from 2008, but he wouldn't have known about Nine Inch Nails or Raiders of the Lost Ark. These questions had better be answered next week!
