Real post partum depression
I posted this at GHFF too:
I have something horrible to report. One of my neighbors killed herself two nights ago. She stopped her car on the shoulder of a busy highway, got out of her car, and started to cross the highway. She was hit and killed by a tractor trailer within 5 seconds. Witnesses say it was like she waited for the truck to get close enough so he could not stop. She had been suffering from post partum depression - her baby is 3 months old.
I think GH is writing this story more true than people realize.

That is absolutely horrifying. I truly feel for anyone in that situation.

Re: Real post partum depression
That is sad. My heart breaks for that baby who will not know it's mother.
Re: Real post partum depression
That's just so terrible. Kathy, did you know her well? My prayers are with her family & friends.
I have said before, when people have complained that the PPD s/l is dragging on too long, that IRL it's not something you get over in a couple of weeks, & GH is writing it realistically (for a change).
I am so sorry about your neighbor, Kathy. I can't even imagine what her family & friends are going thru.

With GH, they never write realistically, so this is the only chance they have to draw viewers in. Although, I can't stand this s/l, I get that it's real. We all know it'll be over in a month or so.

This is terrible Kathy...I don't know the ladty but I feel bad for her and the family...
And I totally agree about how Gh is writing it....for ONCE we can actually say they're doing a good job.

My thoughts & prayers are with her family, Kathy.
As for GH...ICAM w/ y'all. I think GH has done a pretty good job w/ the realism of PPD--from the family's reaction to Robin's behavior. It may not be the happiest s/l we've seen, but it's definitely the one that seems the most true to life (which I think is important when dealing with issues such as this). & I think KMc did a fantastic job in her portrayal.
