Major daytime name coming to GH

Yep, folks another character is being cast:

Martha Byrne Cast on "General Hospital"!

So, this weekend at Stagecoach we kept hearing buzz about the possibility of Martha Bryne coming to "General Hospital." Of course, many of you know her for her longtime stint as Lily on "As the World Turns," and also as a script writer for "The Bold and the Beautiful."

We did as much snooping as we could, and then we finally got a chance to talk to Jason Thompson, who confirmed it for us: "I'm really excited, there's a lot of good stuff coming. I just heard that Martha Byrne is going to be joining the show, which is great. It's always good to have someone shake things up and especially when it's someone who's had such a distinguished career in daytime."

We can tell you that she'll be playing Mayor Floyd's wife, Andrea, but the details of her storyline are yet to come. Keep checking back for more!

Considering that she is a 'name' actress, I would assume that this would be somewhat of a significant part. If this were going to be a bit part or a dayplayer role, Martha Byrne wouldn't have taken the role. I can't imagine what Mayor Floyd's wife will be doing.
