Thanksgiving turkey
How are you guys making your turkeys?
I'm planning on doing it the same way I always do, call my mom and have her tell me
All kidding aside, is there a secret that you ladies have?
Please do tell.

Re: Thanksgiving turkey
My favorite kind of turkey is fried turkey...you inject it with marinade, put a rub on it and fry it up...since my family refuses :suspect: We do it like this:
I usually put garlic, salt, pepper inside of it, stuff that will really give it a good taste...then I rub extra virgin olive oil all over the outide and some garlic salt. Cover it, and I don't open the oven til it's about 35-45 minutes before it's done (they say if you open the oven it dries out the bird, and blech dry turkey) then take off the tinfoil and brown the skin.
My Aunt swears on the turkey bags, she says you season em the same way, throw it in a turkey bag and it usually is faster and less dry.
My favorite part of thanksgiving is gravy over everything...except the cranberry sauce

Re: Thanksgiving turkey
Can I come to your house? the only catch is you got to pay for it. j/k
I season mine like that too. I have a flavor injector, it's a really big needle. I take garlic (diced very fine), fresh sqeezed orange juice, fresh sqeezed lemon, fresh ground pepper, goya*, salt, and chicken broth. I mix it all up to make about a bowl of it. I inject that into the turkey mainly on the breasts, but still do the whole thing.
I then put some of the rub you're talking about on it. I put orangle slices all over the turkey.
I cover it with foil, but every 20 mins I baste it, once it's done I take the foil off and let it brown. That makes the outside crispy and the inside juicy
I'm going to try the olive oil and garlic inside of the turkey too.

Re: Thanksgiving turkey
I heard that when you're done with the turkey you take the bones and make soup with them. I think I need to try that, anyone know how to do that?
