Missing different issues on GH

I am missing how GH would handle the different issues on GH and at the end of the show, how they would talk about the issue with the character it affected. Some of the issues I remember were:

Bipolar Disorder - Sonny

HIV/AIDS - Robin

Cancer - Monica, Emily

Hooked on drugs - Alan, Emily

Alcoholism - Monica ( I didn't see anything at the endo of the show about that though)

I think there was depression at one time, but I don't remember who. I remember one being said after the Nurse's Ball one time too, just don't remember what it was. I think that it's important that they show these things and how people can get help. That is one thing I really loved about GH. I hope they will bring another message on soon and not stop reaching out to their viewers.

Please add any that I may have missed that you remember or have affected you also.

When Alexis had cancer they had one too.

they haven't had a GOOD alcoholism s/l since Lee Baldwin.

Depression...I THINK it was when Tiffany was going through it because she also tried to commit suicide. Can't remember for certain though if there was a PSA at the end of the eps.

I miss GH's willingness to do those kind of stories justice. Now, they just pussyfoot around everything & make the s/l suck ass. I'd love to see a summer s/l featuring the younger crew where someone gets gonorrhea or chlamydia...that could be something interesting that actually gets the kids watching. I'd also like to see a depression s/l, I'd like to see Sonny taking his meds (we haven't seen him take a pill onscreen in awhile)...I'd have liked to see how Robin dealt w/ being an HIV-positive mother...but they barely touched on that.

Originally they promised us that Robin's pregnancy would be a good storyline where we learn more about women with HIV who were pregnant...didn't happen.

Also since the NB was a fundraiser for HIV/AIDS awareness and research it was a WHOLE PSA in itself.

But I would like for GH to return to continuing some kind of HIV/AIDS awareness function...people learned alot from those shows.

Also...Re: depression...IF they do right by it...Robin's PPD s/l could be good...but they have to write it right...Unlike some folks here I don't think Robin is being unreasonable...PPD is SERIOUS...her actions are what happens...she had no will to do anything...they want to connect...but can't....and they can't help it. Robin's refusal to seek help is also normal...because in their minds the baby blues is not serious...she doesn't realize she needs help yet...like that of an alcoholic or drug addict...but on a different level...

Speaking of alcoholism... Monica's alcoholism storyline should have been SOOO much more...but the whole thing was just done WRONG...they initiated it wrong and carried it out wrong...

They REALLY should have taken a page from Dallas...Sue Ellen didn't just become a full fledged drunk over night...it started out VERY subtly over MONTHS...we would see her drinking...maybe getting tipsy...then slowly she began to have to drink MORE...till every time you saw her she had booze...

but the way they hand'ed it on GH with Monica wa just WRONG...they certianly did a better job at it when lee Baldwin was at the height of his alcoholism.

And speaking of Lee...it would have been good to have Monica...upon returning form rehab *that we should have actually SEEN*...go to AA and there is Lee heading up the meeting...why not?...continuity and history makes a soap great...oh but wait...this is GH of TODAY...Oh well.
